Dehydration may cause your body to go into survival mode. This triggers your body’s “fight or flight” response which in turn creates the symptoms of anxiety such as a rapid heartbeat, shallow breathing and trembling.

So how can you tell if you are dehydrated? Well, your urine might be a good indicator. If it is clear or pale yellow in color, you are not yet dehydrated. If your urine is dark yellow in color, go drink a glass of water.

How much water should you drink per day? This can vary from person to person. Just remember that feeling thirsty is usually a sign that you are already dehydrated and not that your body is beginning to lack water. Generally you might start with about 8 glasses of water per day.

You may want to avoid drinking large amounts of the following beverages because they actually promote dehydration:

* Coffee – contains caffeine.
* Liquor – contains alcohol.
* Soft Drinks – contains artificial sweeteners and sometimes caffeine.

You can rather choose to drink tea or a glass of pure water. This is especially true on hot days, but even during the winter you may become dehydrated.

You can try to find your own balance.
